I was just curious what everyone is using for gun grease with O/U shotguns. I bought some Mobil 1 grease, but I have heard anything from Mobil 1 to Vaseline will work. Anyone have their favorite grease they depend on. I don't necessarily mind spending a little more money if the product is truly proven to outperform regular grease, but I haven't heard of anything at the moment.

Best grease for O/U?

I use Mobil1 Synthetic (red). Works well and never had an issue. I have used anti-seize on the choke tubes but have since cleaned it off and replaced with Mobil1. I don't see the point in spending more money for the same or worse result.*********************
WTS:
1. PW 800+ Hydro Multispeed (just the hydraulic unit that also works with Spolar press)
2. PW 800B converted to 800C (12 gauge) with lots of accessories and upgrades
3. Hornady 366 (12 gauge)

anything slippery will work, its not a high pressure or high speed application, you just dont want anything to gall or stick.
I use some lubri-film from work, its only $2-3 per tube and works great, its made for food processing pumps, ice cream machines, etc so a very tiny amount stays where you put it, doesn't wash out easily and stays very slippery at all temps. No color or smells either, I use it on all my rifle bolts and pistol slides

NO the lubricant of choice for the guys who actually have the hi dollar guns is,,, VASELINE! No Joke!!!
I replaced all my wonder lubes two years ago after my O/U seized and couldn't be opened on a hot day and had to be sent to Pacific Sales for gunsmith work to get it apart. Now it runs on Vaseline.
A friend of mine who is one of their gunsmiths told me about Vaseline.
I now use it on everything from my Glocks to all rifles and shotguns.
You can buy travel size tubes of the stuff at your local drug store and keep one with every gun or in your range. bag. Do put it in a plastic zip loc bag as they will leak when it gets hot or the altitude changes.
My M500 just did 300 rounds at Front Sight and it still had Vaseline on all the internal parts when I cleaned it.
No more Frog Lube, Seal One, Wonder Lube or any of the other spuges that claim to be the last word in lubrication. They are all BS!
Show me one that does anything better on a gun than Vaseline or plain ole Hoppe's gun oil.
I also assemble all my Hand Presses using Vaseline for assembly lube, and it stays on the job for years. most Mechanics have been using the stuff since I was a kid for assembly lube. It's cheap and it works, nothing more to be said.
