Any Benelli 828U shooters?

I tried shooting sporting clays a few times and really enjoyed it.
I tried talking a guy from work into going along.
He mentioned that he's been interested in getting another shotgun.
He currently has a Super Nova ( i believe)
He is flat out set on buying a 828 o/u, no other options, because he likes his other benelli.

I'm looking for some info here on calguns and find VERY LITTLE info about of them.
Is there a reason not too many folks shoot them?

I have one. Love it. The guys I shoot with simply say they haven't heard enough info about them. When they try mine out some are very impressed and some don't really respond too much. I dig it, but I don't have any other O/U to compare.

I think the big issue is they haven't been out too long. Only two years basically.

Price and they are “new.” I’ve only seen Beretta and Browning over and unders.

I mainly duck hunt though - friends use semi auto Benellis and Berettas.

The 828u is nice looking. As long as it fits, I’m sure it will do well.

Many quality shotguns today have aluminum receivers, no biggie. But there is no way I’d use a shotgun that light for clays. The two I shot had very heavy triggers-not a big deal to some but a big deal to me. I’d get a Browning or Beretta, whichever one fits best and the fit is definitely different. The 828U fit me well though. It has a lower DAC than a Beretta and is closer to a Browning than a Beretta. And yes, Beretta owns Benelli. Benelli owns Franchi and Stoeger. Benelli also owns Sako, Sako owns Tikka. Beretta also owns one of the companies that makes 19th century reproduction revolvers and lever guns, it may be Uberti.

Thanks for the info. I haven't looked closely at the Berettas or Brownings to know what their receivers are made from. The lightness of the 828 doesn't bother me yet, however I haven't compared it to anything else. I have shot skeet with autoloaders also and I personally don't notice a big difference between recoil, but I can understand how it being light might make others feel uncomfortable. Same goes for the trigger. Hasn't bothered me personally, but I see your point. The one thing I did that annoyed me about the 828 was I went ahead and disabled the auto safety. Very easy to do BTW.

The effects of recoil are cumulative. I’m not saying this applies to you but there are also many people who’ve developed a flinch due to recoil and don’t even know it.
