How does the bennelli m4 stack up to the compitition?

Also can someone point me go the right direction in getting a mossberg semi auto, it's nowhere to be found

As the others have mentioned, you should take the Mossberg 500 into consideration. Hard to go wrong with an 870 or 500.

+1 for the mossy 500. I got in on black friday 2008 for $230 at big 5. havent seen as good of a deal since. Especially since I have the combo version that came with 2 barrels. Love it and can't imagine being without it at my house as it is my home protection gun. semi-auto shotties are cool but once you get use to it, you can fire multiple shots with a pump action very quickly. even at the $300 range it is a great value for what you get. fun as hell to shoot and relatively cheap on ammo if you buy bulk.

i would go with the 870 i own 2 an hd and a super cant go wrong

I went in to get an 870 and was upsold to a Benelli Supernova. I was told that the 870 Express is fine, but Remington really earned its name on the 870 Wingmaster.

Now I have the Supernova in 12 with at 28" barrel and a regular Nova in 20 (for the ladies). The Supernova is an extremely comfortable gun to shoot. Much less felt recoil than my buddies tactical 12 gauge. I outperformed him in trap that day and he mentioned that his was for larger, slower-moving targets.

My only issue is that replacement barrels are more expensive for the Benelli so if you are planning for a trap/tac barrel swap, you might want to go with the Remington. Keep costs like that in mind. Let us know what you go with.

I'm thinking more and more that I will go with the 870. I gonna wait a few weeks and mull it over. Since I'm starting out, I think it'd be better because I would also be able to get a .22

If you are under the 500 buck price range, get an 870 if you are right handed or a 500 if you are lefty. The 870 having a slight edge in quality IMO but the safety is rifle style on the trigger guard. The 500/590 have the safety on the top back of the receiver to be actuated by your thumb. In the 1000 dollar price range for a semi get a benelli S90.
