Replacing stock 870 forend with the SureFire light?

So I've wanted a SureFire forend light for quite awhile and finally got a used one on eBay recently as I had no interest in spending almost $300 on a light. Problem is after watching install videos the factory version comes with a "tool" to help install it which is basically a piece of steel used to detach the factory forend from the magazine tube if I'm understanding that correctly?

Is it possible to install this without the piece of steel since the seller obviously didn't include it? Or am I better off having a gunsmith put it on for me? In case it's not obvious I am not what one would call mechanically inclined and almost always do more harm than good when attempting to put things together. Picture is attached for reference.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. . .

    Take your 870 apart.

That "plate" that your bolt rides on (the slide)? Yeah, that's a fore-end wrench in a pinch.

Looks like you answered your own question.

Perfect advice!!! Thanks again, after cranking on it for about 15 minutes I finally got it off, took another 15 to get it back on after install. Couldn't have done it without the tip, cheers!
