How long did it take before you received your stock? I ordered directly from them(knoxx) and my order has been processing for a while. Im contemplating cancelling and just buying a speed stock. Is the knoxx really that good? Should I wait? Are they back ordered?

I love mine . I bought mine on ebay and had it 3 days later . It was about three weeks ago.

The knoxx is really that good...
buy a product from Brownells... "Cheekeze"... in the thickest available pad.. cut it and put it on a stock... we use ours on a custom Scattergun tech. gun... with the plain stock... during classes I have seen it give people a black eye.. the cheekeze takes the thump outa the stock... it has to do with the geometry of the stock... other than that.. Rem low recoil slugs/buck feels like a low base 20 ga.... I am really impressed... it wouldna work on my Mossy because of the safety but I really like it on the 870....

The down side is that you have to learn how to rest your cheek on them in an strange position. If you rest your cheek anywhere but far back on the plastic piece, which is not where it naturally wants to fall, you will smack the heck out of your face. Parts that would otherwise remain fixed now move when you fire. That is how it stops the recoil. I had an otherwise very intelligent friend just not get it, no matter how many times I explained it to him that he was putting his cheek too far forward. Until I let him fire it. From then on he listened to every instruction I gave to the letter. Not to mention his face was very swollen. I tried to tell him, he did not listen...now he does.

It is for that reason I prefer the Speedfeed Stock. You can rest your cheek in a more natural position.

I do not mind the recoil, I would rather have a semi-auto shotgun anyway. And they do not make a knoxx for a semi-auto shotgun. The Speefeed Stocks look nice, and work well, and they come in 2 different lengths in case you have a specific length of pull requirement.

That is not to say that I dislike the Knoxx. I do like them. I just like the Speedfeed better.

I had a good month of practice with a friends Knoxx recoil system on a Rem 870. It does as advertised. Good overall design, not too complicated and low maintenance, took us less than 10 mins to install. Shot all kinds of shell types from rifled slugs to heavy buck shot - even did skeet! Kicks alot less and didn't need to gather myself on follow up shots. I'm seeing alot of this design on the web and reading some good reviews as well. I ordered one back in February but still waiting for it.

They are owned by black hawk now. I dont know if that has anything to do with it but if you call black hawk direct, they will tell you right there and then if its available to ship

I also got mine off Ebay. Its a great stock. My girlfriends 12 year old daughter can handle 00 Buck and slugs with this stock.

There are a few problems on this setup. I don't know if they're the same on the 500 or 870, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it.

First, it's got a lot less drop than the standard stock. This makes my shots go high - about 4" at 10 yards - and I can't get my head down far enough for the sights to line up. It's much more accurate with the standard stock.

Next, the trigger group won't come out with the stock on. Taking the stock off is a pretty big pain, compared to just pushing the pin and popping out the group with the normal stock.

I could live with the trigger group problem, but the POA vs POI is kind of a big deal.

Yeah, this stock won't work if you plan on using the stock bead sight. You need ghost ring sights or eletro optics. I have a Burris Fastfire on my Mossy 590 and it works great.

That's a thought. I'm leaning towards keeping this simple and inexpensive, but maybe an optic would be the way to go.

Does it hurt the shock absorber system to leave the gun standing up with the weight on the stock, somewhat compressed maybe? Or is it stiffer than that?

No. It's a big honking spring that's hung inside the stock tube. It's pretty durn hard to compress it much by leaning on the gun - standing the gun on the stock won't budge it.
