    Mossberg 590A1 Mariner

Did I make a good buy here? Made the purchase yesterday. I have always wanted a silver shotgun. Had a Rock Island Armory M5 nickel-plated for a week, but I was not impressed with the quality of the product. Found out RifleGear had 2 590A1 Mariners at their Texas shop.

One was sold while I was struggling with the decision to buy or not to buy. Lol as soon as I saw one had sold I quickly made the purchase. Can't wait to get the DROS started. Going to be driving up from El Cajon.

I’ve been completely satisfied with my stock mariner. Only change is when I throw on the longer barrel for birds. Great gun.

You did good, and that Marinecote finish really works. My friend had one on his boat for years, and that is pretty close to being salt water proof. Keep it clean and it will last you for many many years.

My original M500 ATP6 is coming up on 30 years old in a few months.

oh, and if you've never driven a brand new 500/590, note that in my experience, racking them out of the box is a little tight at first, especially if you have run a broken in 870 in the past.
(i am not such a fan of the remingtons, but only because i have a friend that had extraction failures a few times, and not because i didn't think it worked great with a slick slide.)

anyway, the point is that racking the slide a few dozen (or hundred) times will loosen it up quite a bit if it feels tight to you at first. i am relatively new to the forum so i don't know if this is a normal impression or just me.

Thanks guys. I should have pictures hopefully in 2 weeks . But I don't know RifleGears policy on taking pictures in their store. Might have to wait till I bring it home.

You got a 500 MARINER at riflegear? Or a 590? I don't see one there unless you did a PPT?

I have a near new Maverick 88 right now. It was pretty tight out the box, it still is kinda tight. I only fired 25 rounds of 00 Buck through it. I'm going to put the 590A1 furniture on the 88 and the wood furniture from the 88 onto the 590A1. I will be selling the 88 as soon as I get the 590A1. I don't need two shotguns.

I’ve got a 500 Mariner...it’s one of the keepers in my collection. Neat shotgun.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                    Come on...what harm??

It is a 590A1 Mariner. I made the purchase yesterday online. It is being shipped from the Texas store to the Fountain Valley store. Lol I fixed the title. I didn't realize I had put 500A1 on there.

I purchased one three weeks ago at Riflegear. Great shotgun. Rack the slide a lot to loosen it up.

Nice. This will be my last shotgun purchase. I thought since its my last shotgun, I might as well make it a good one.

I love the 590A1. Have that and the Remington 870. I can say that the 590A1 is the better choice by far. The Mariner’s coating is just gravy.

Man i'm getting excited now. Where can I get a magazine extension for this shotgun? I saw a 590A1 Mariner with a magazine extension being sold in the marketplace last year. It looked nice.
