    Mossberg 500 help

I just bought a nice sidewinder kit for my Mossberg 500. How do I remove the lower tube on the Mossberg? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You mean, the magazine tube? Take off the fore-end and twist the mag tube hard; it will unscrew.

Make sure weapon is unloaded, remove barrel, slide action fully to the rear. twist off mag tube, if its too tight, use a hairdryer on high and soften up any thread loc that might be there and that should be enough to get it.. DO NOT use a clamp of any kind. mag tube is thin walled and could easly cruch.

You can use a strap wrench or you can use a channel lock plier around the very end where it's supported by the threaded end cap. Wrap a rag around the end to protect the finish then just twist if off the receiver.

I had to use a strap wrentch to remove mine. I first tried Vice grips and they just marred the finish really bad, even with a rag wrapped around the tube. But seems how I was replacing the mag tube anyways I didn't care...

Once you get the mag tube off and screw in the sidewinder tube... You want to make sure the mag well is directly undernieth the shotgun. To check insert an empty mag into the magwell and look at it from the front. If it is not try one more complete turn. If it is slightly tilted then it won't feed properly. Ask me how I know... LOL

Also the magazine need some break in time and will be difficult to insert at first. Mine seemed to be almost impossible, but after a few trips to the range, the now insert great.

Have fun with your sidewinder, They are hard to find. And hold onto those Magazines, they are like gold
