Browning XT Trap vs Browning CXT

Does anyone has some more knowledge on the (in 12 gauge) :

Browning XT Trap 32 inch (discontinued in 2016)
and
Browning CXT 32 inch

How do both compare ?
How do you like them ?
How do you like the higher rib vs standard rib ?
Is the older XT Trap or the newer CXT a better shotgun ?
Let me know all Pro's / Contra's

I noticed a fews 32 inch XT Trap for sale - used but mint condition - starting at $ 1,700
The 32 inch CXT - new cheapest one I found - runs $ 1678.99
Until the end of this month there is the 10 % Browning discount what bring the total to $ 1,511.00

I don't own or shoot either model but the higher rib is there to get the barrel out of your field of view.
Back when I was competing there where champions using low ribs and crazy high ribs so it's all about what you prefer and you won't know what you like until you shoot it.

The crossover is spec'd for multiple clay disciplines. What's your expected use? Just trap or a mix of clay games?

Both look to be parallel combs. I shoot everything low gun (like field shooting) so like some drop, but many who shoot high gun like the parallel comb.

Too bad they both have porting. Not a fan.

The XT is a better gun for trap with the added weight and slightly different stock dimensions and having a factory adjustable comb option. That being said, the CXT is probably what I’d buy because the cost savings and it’s dang near an XT and I like the Midas chokes and the 3” option is a plus with the lean ban so if I wanted to shoot some real birds in the face with steel shot, the CXT is ready-er.

The Browning XT Trap owner - spoke to him earlier - dropped the price to $ 1,550.00 shipped / insured

Now the new CXT vs used XT Trap is a $ 25.00 difference

Here is the XT Trap

Mint - about 1000 rounds fired - in the box
Only thing I knows is that the XT Trap is slightly heavier
The wood is (or looks at least) of a higher grades compared to the new CXT

let me start by saying that I shoot an XT trap & love it.

that said, if you are torn between the two get the XT trap, since it is no longer in production if you don't like it you can always sell it and replace it with the CXT which in in current production. you will also probably want to get a set of extended chokes for it as the XT comes with flush mounted where as the CXT comes with the Midas chokes... I prefer the Diana or Diamond grade chokes myself as I find them easier to clean.

as ScottB said the recoil pad in a non issue as they can fairly easy to change, I use a Kick-EEZ trap pad myself.

the only other thing that you my want to look in to is an adjustable comb - but you really need to shoulder the gun before you go that far with it

I might like the original recoil pads
When I tried this shotgun it actually fitted me nicely
But if needed I can always change it

Now the XT Trap looks good and so does the wood

Like @Bastard mentions - perhaps start with this one
The CXT is a current model so really easy to get
