Anyone try a Trulock Boar Blaster choke?

Has anyone tried a Trulock Boar Blaster choke tube?

It is supposed to be designed for 00 and 000 Buckshot. The reduction is done in steps rather than the usual conical taper. Seems like the steps would shave down the lead balls. I like the fact that it adds 1-1/2 inches to the barrel length.

Wouldn't it either shave down the wad or slow the wad down and allow some (or all?) of the shot to exit the choke tube ahead of the wad?

      The 000 Buckshot I shoot doesn't have a wad.

      000 Buckshot is 0.360" diameter.
      A 12 gauge bore is 0.730" diameter.
      0.360 x 2 = 0.720".
      0.730 - 0.720 = 0.010". That doesn't leave much room for a wad.

I do not know about smaller Buckshot.

I would like to see the fouling build up after a couple hundred rounds have been fired.
Diameter isn't an issue as the shot can stagger if needed. Gas seal then a wad.

I noticed that Carlson's Cremator choke is also stepped.

            Seems unconventional.

I buy Carlson’s and Trulock chokes and have a bunch of them. I buy whichever is selling for the lowest cost at the time. When I’ve had questions or was having trouble finding chokes I’ve called both companies. A couple of times I’ve talked to a son but usually it’s been Mr. Carlson or Mr. Trulock. Everyone I’ve talked to at both companies, including the owners have been exceptionally nice and knowledgeable. Give Carlson’s a call.

I would also never use buckshot for hogs. Slugs work much better.

How is the build-up on those stepped chokes?

I don’t have any specialty chokes, just extended chokes in skeet through full. I clean my shotguns at around 500 rounds and plastic build-up is normal.

I forgot I have two Trulock turkey chokes and have never checked them.
