    870 wingmaster 20g S.W Mag extension

Hello everyone I was curious if anyone knew if the older standard weight 20gauges used a standard 12 gauge tube extension or a 20 gauge extension?

My "X" serial numbered 20 gauge Wingmaster uses a standard 12 gauge extension. IIRC, the "X" and "N" serial numbers share the 12 gauge frame with the "N" numbers being Magnums.

Perfect thank you for the info. I will be picking up an extension, if I have a sw 20g with a 28" barrel what would be a perfect size for the extension

That would be a matter of esthetics and intended use. If you're keeping the 28" barrel on it, you can go with as long an extension as you like and it still won't protrude beyond the muzzle. I found an extra barrel for mine that was damaged at the muzzle, so didn't feel guilty about cutting it down to 20 1/2" to match the extension length, recrowning and resetting the front bead. I wanted an extension that didn't extend beyond the muzzle as they just look bad to me.

I've lent it out to a friend for quail season this year so don't have it on hand to take a photo, here's one shortly after fitting the shorter barrel.

Those are some gorgeous tools, mine looks like the middle piece of beauty you have there. I believe it's a 28" I'll have to re measure it but that's good to know now I can hold 8 hahaha
