Maverick 88

Picked up a Mavarick 88 shotgun from a buddy at work who was dumping it for 100.00...Would like to change out the barrel to 18" and change the stock maybe to a knox stock....Does it take the same 500/590 barrels and will accessories for the 500/590 work on the 88?

yes it will take the barrels.

i own one and have an 18' barrel that i got off of my uncles 500.

as for stocks most of them will fit but check the description because some dont.

It couldn't take both the 500 and 590 barrels as they are incompatible barrel systems. I suspect that it would take a 500 barrel.

If you change the mag tube, spring, and end cap though you should be able to use a 590 barrel

my uncles might be a 500.

i dont really know i just know its one of the two.

the Maverick 88 and Mossberg 500 are one in the same, just the 500 is made here in the USA and the 88 is made in Hungry, or Turkey, or something like that... or maybe I'm just hungry for turkey...

IIRC they are not identical. The 88 has a crossbolt safety and the 500 has a tang safety. Though the barrel and stocks should be the same.

My Maverick 88 (Circa late 80's) with single pump bar say's on the receiver, "Eagle Pass, TX Made in USA"

My Maverick 88 may not be as tacti-cool as my Remington 870 (sold it), but it's very light compared to a 870 which I like.

My Maverick 88 Riot 12 has a wood stock (Painted black with recoil pad installed ) and 18 1/2 inch barrel & heat shield & sling & police sights ! does not indicate where it was made on weapon though ?

try the bottom right in front of where you put the shells.

thats where it is on mine.

No ,nothin there (Serial # is MV1782** )Small Style-ized letters say Maverick by Mossberg with copyright then large ones say Model 88 12 Ga. If these were made in Europe they should have an Importer stamp ?
