Sorry for the hijack, but has someone measured the chamber to prove it's out of spec? I believe that part of the problems that have been observed in the last few years are also due to cheap materials used by some ammo manufacturers. Gun manufacturers aren't the only one cutting corners.God Bless America - My iTrader rating - https://www.calguns.net/forum/market...2-transactionsComment

I am waiting for someone else to pipe up who actually has one. As someone else hinted earlier......we don't see these pop up, because the Navy probably has never surplused these guns out. Meaning it is probably stolen.Originally posted by CheepSo, no one has a guess on value?
Stolen. You know.....stolen. That is gonna kill interest in this thing real quick.

You never asked for opinions on value. It's not worth much.Originally posted by CheepSo, no one has a guess on value?God Bless America - My iTrader rating - https://www.calguns.net/forum/market...2-transactionsComment

I know the exact value of it. It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, however it is simply an old 870. It is the same 870 police model that most of us old guy started with. They were simply the only 870 Remington made, a Wingmaster. They had 20" Bead sight barrels and some had three shot extension and some had two shot extension, The one in this post has a two shot. They had plain hardwood stocks and that old waffle pad that was so hard we didn't need rams as we could break doors down with them. So, it is just and Old Wingmaster that someone Stamped Property of the US Navy. That seems strange as most would have been stamp Property of the US Government, but hey, it's the Navy. So anyone wanting an old Wingmaster offer him $250 as I am sure it is still working fine. But be prepared to put at least $120 in it for the Flex tab conversion kit as I can't tell from the Picture if it has been upgraded or not. But hey, some old Squid might pay more for it as a keep sake.Last edited by aippi; 03-05-2018, 2:32 PM.JD McGuire, Owner

I do believe the government released at least 1 Model 37 to an ffl specializing in C&R military shotguns. I bought the gun, basic walnut and parkerized. I called Ithaca and asked about the gun's origin by sn. Ithaca replied one or two dozen were shipped to the Baltimore navy yard in 1944. They also noted the navy had requested no markings on the guns other than an sn.
See above. If the navy did it with Ithacas, who's to say they didn't do it with 870's?I am waiting for someone else to pipe up who actually has one.
