    Which 590A1 shell holder?

What shell holders do you guys have experience with? Any that you swear by?
My current project is outfittng a 590A1 9-shot Magpul series with a 20 inch barrel.
Im a right handed shootwer so I dont need to worry about my hand bumping into the side of the receiver as would a lefty if the shell holder is on the longer side)

Do you guys prefer the ones that attach to the receiver via screws or hook and loop/Velcro?

I do not have a Mossberg, nor do I have a shell holder, but when I was looking to get one for my 870 I found that the Mesa Tactical Shell Holders were the most recommended. I notice they have both a plastic and an aluminum version. I do not know which is best.

Mesa Tactical designs and manufactures American-made, duty-grade firearm and shotgun accessories trusted by law enforcement and professionals.

I've had a Tac Star sidesaddle on my 590 for 20 years now. It still holds the shells and has been through 10 days of shotgun classes and countless rounds of just shooting.
        It works!

Mesa Tactical offers Velcro shell holders. My experience with Velcro is that the glue/tape holding the Velcro to the surface of the item usually fails before the Velcro.

Surface preparation is everything with adhesives. Heavy duty Velcro with proper surface prep isn't going to come off.

For bare chested red bandana & pirate eyepatch warface photo shoots on my “L88T WARRIOR” Facebook page, I wear dual crossed bandoliers that hold 50 shells each.

When the cameras aren’t rolling, I find the Mesa Tactical bolted on side saddle works quite well. Different tools for different needs I always say.

IMHO the Velcro attached cards are the way to go. You can have many cards loaded in AR Mag Pouches and strip them off and install new ones in a few seconds to reload the gun. You can't do that with a bolt on carrier so you are limited to whatever you have on the gun.

They don't permanently alter the gun and require no drilling or tapping of the Receiver.

The Velcro material is available at any Hardware store if you need to replace it.

I have my normal Buckshot/Slug cards loaded and one always on the gun. More waiting nearby.

Then I have ones with dummy rounds for dry practice, and all I do is clear the gun, strip off the live rounds, install the dummies, and away I go.

Putting the gun away is just as easy.

The other good thing about the Velcro mounts is that if you decide you don't want it on there anymore you can just take the tape off and clean the receiver with Alcohol, and it doesn't mess with the finish in any way.
