Shooting a double barrel SG single shot...

Would it present uneven wear probs?

If the SG is designed to go "bang, bang" ...shots thru barrel #1 and then #2, can it become problematic if you only use 1 of the barrels (shooting trap for example)?

Just curious.

I tried a SG but went back to my Taurus Judge for Trap.

Shotguns are a low pressure round and I am not sure it is possible for a person to wear out a modern made trap gun.....

I think you answered your question... wear will be greater on the one barrel, ejector, extractor.... but as things break, you get them fixed....


I would think you could shoot 4 boxes a week for 25 years and not have any issues due to shooting the 130,000 shells from one barrel that you would not have from shooting that from both barrels....

Just use barrel #2 50% of the time as a solution ----- most single trigger SxS shotguns have a barrel selector. A double trigger SxS is self explanatory.

No. On a break action double barrel shotgun, you'll wear out the action from opening/closing the gun more than you'll do shooting it.

You will not wear out the barrel in your lifetime this way, or your grand kid's for that matter.
