Remington 11-87 always locks back and does not cycle

I recently purchased my first semi auto shotgun and I think it is not working correctly as I cannot cycle it using dummy rounds.

    It's a Wilson Combat Scattergun TR-1187, so basically a Remington 11-87 Police.

Regardless, if my magazine tube is full of shells or not, when I pull the handle the bolt always locks back. Therefore, it never feeds the next ammo.

I'm under the impression that there is a latch that holds the ammo within the magazine tube, and when the bolt comes back it should release this latch and free the ammo to the carrier so that it can ride up the ramp to be chambered when the bolt is released forward. This is not happening since it just locks back.

I also been told that this shotty will not manually cycle unless I fire a live round. This does not make any sense to me.

Can someone shed some light to this noob please? I actually have it disassmbled and even have the trigger group out.

I'm planning to clean and lube to see if this makes any difference. If anyone can suggest anything I should check for that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

Normal, the gun is not broken.

Mag release button will solve the problem, must be one somewhere on the gun

Your best bet is to read your user manual

I did read the manual many times and it says I should be able to cycle the gun.

Additionally, this guy cycles his gun and my gun will NOT do this what so ever.

      So confusing...

No he's not.. mag release button is part of the carrier and therefore under the gun in front of the trigger guard.

Cycling dummy rounds don't mean ****. Take it out and shoot it.

square or rectangular button on the bottom, in front of the trigger guard/area; press the button; it will slam a round in. make sure your fingers are out of the way, LOL

It doesn't seem like anyone has any personal experience with this particular Shotgun.

Still appreciate everyone taking the time to look at my post.

I can cycle my other guns just fine with dummy rounds. I'm just wanting to know if the same can be done with this shotgun that is new to me.

It would be nice to detect any issues before heading over the shooting range.
But yeah I guess I'll just need to figure it out on my own.
