870 replacement barrel.

I bought a lightly used 26" vent rib 12ga 870 express barrel and it didnt have the detent on it.

My 870 take off barrel has the detent which locks the magazine cap from coming loose. My magazine cap is universal and works with both internal and external racheting system.

My problem is.. with this barrel. I have no ratcheting system because I don't have an Internal rachet in my magazine tube nor is there one on the barrel. How should I go about doing this?

I have aproject barrel that I was going to attempt to drill and swage a ball detent into, but I have never gotten around to buying the parts and swage tool. I'm thinking it would be better to sell the barrel (never fired) and just get another one. I do have a hand drill that I thing might work, but other than that, you might have to remove the ring lug by melting the silver solder off of it to put it in a vice where you can drill normally. Don't ask me how to solder it back on straight without a jig, but....anyways, you can see why I still haven't embarked on my project.
