Best STOCK Options

Guys,

What are some of the best stock (CA Compliant) Stock options for a Mossberg 500? The factory stock is too long (with full size 8 shot tube magazine & barrel). I want to make the overall length smaller but still realistic and CA compliant. What other options would you consider....

For pump action only OAL of 26"(?) is required. So most anything is compliant.

I've tried 3 aftermarket stocks on my 590 and the Magpul SGA is hands-down the best. I've never met anyone who didn't love it. I'd heavily advise against a pistol grip on a Mossberg because it makes it very awkward to quickly access the safety and the slide release button. Pistol grips work much better on Remingtons, IMO.

The SGA stock has a minimum LOP of 12 in, which should be short enough for just about anyone.

The Hogue short stock, the Magpul stock, and the Mesa Urbino stock will all be shorter than the original.

This^^^^^^^. The Magpul SGA, FDE is what I have on my Remington 870 now. I did a lot of research before buying the Magpul SGA. Then, by a stroke of luck, Midway USA was having a sale, so I bought it.

I only bought the stock not the hand guard, as I really like the dark wood of the OEM on my Remington.

+1 on the Magpul SGA. Buddy of mine has one and it is very adjustable.

If you decide to go with a pistol grip only then the Shockwave birdshead is the way to go.

Hogue makes a very nice short lop and forearm set. I had one on my 500 persuader. It made recoil less comfortable, but it was a fightin' gun not for birds.
