Remington 1100 Competition

My son wants to buy a shotgun for shooting skeet and/or sporting clays.
Just for fun. Maybe once a month.
He has a budget of about $1200
Turners has the Remington for about $1150
I say buy the A300 which I've heard so much about. But he gets tired of me shooting down all of his suggestions.
What do you guys say?

If he's paying for it himself and that is what he wants, let him buy the 1100. He would save some $$ on the A300,but, he hears the 1100 calling. Both good guns tho.

if he is thinking about the 1100 competition synthetic make sure he handles it first. The gun is very barrel heavy, i personally did not like the way it swings. good for trap but not so good for sporting clays. on the plus side the ken rucker stock with recoil device is very nice.

The 11-87 would serve him just as well and he would have a lot of money left over for ammo.
