    Is anyone using shotgun adapters?

I want to mix in some 20 gauge shooting with my O/U's but don't want to buy another shotgun.

Has anyone used these inexpensive adapters (12 to 20 or 12 to .410)?

Our Smooth Bore 12 Gauge to 20 Gauge Chamber Adapter provides the Versatility your Shotgun needs at a Price that can’t be Beat!

Seems like a cheap way to get some versatility without buying another gun.

I will probably risk the $50 anyway unless I hear that they don't work at all.

I had a set of 12g to 20g Seminole Chambermates which was the Cadillac version. The worked pretty good. Mfg. did highly suggest only using brass based hulls so the hulls wouldn't stick. They had extension so your extractor/ejector was functional which I don't think the cheap ones do. You'd have to remove the adapter then poke your hull out. That could get annoying in any volume.

I used them enough to decide I wanted a dedicated set of 20g barrels for my 682, then sold the Chambermates for what I paid for them (used).

The next step up is tubes from Briley, etc. Not cheap, but a lot less than a new quality O/U.

      ><

Never used adapters, but have always wondered how they would work past firing the shell. There is only an inch or so of barrel and then its in an open tube until the wad and shot exit the barrel.

What is velocity like? Choke has to be Super Spreader. POI ?

      Any info ?

Seminole quit making these (or really anything) years ago due to some divorce issue.

They did have a rather extensive testing presentation on the web. IIRC, going down 1 gauge worked pretty well. 12g to 410 was not so good. Velocity dropped like 50-100 fps I think.

Search Seminole Chambermates and the presentation may well still be available.

Here's a test from Gun Tests (generally very reliable):

In this Gun-Tests article we look at small guage shotgun chamber inserts. Briley, Seminole firearm insert products save money.

Briley also makes shorter length (less expensive then full length) tubes.
Have never used/seen them in person.

Browning still makes chamber inserts. Online, or Fowler's Gun Room in Orange has some in stock.
