Buy whatever Target or Dove load loaded with #7 1/2 or #8 at the lowest price you can find.....and shoot'em up.

Have shot a crap-ton of the Herters Field Loads from Cabela's and have no complaints. As mentioned by others, the Federal 100-packs at Walmart are good too.

Due to a couple of factors:
          • Decrease in competition - no more internet/mail order/ importing your own by purchasing when out of state
          • Increased bureaucracy/approval process requirements from the state

I would expect some retailer to stop selling ammo (not worth the hassle) and some to raise prices to cover the additional bureaucracy.
I did say it was my opinion. I just don't expect a big price change in nationwide chains. They in turn can keep the LGS's in check to some degree.

I was just down in El paso hunting and wallyworld had wincester 3/1/7 1/2 0r 8 field loads for 4.74 a box. I left my steel waterfowl loads with my decoys with a buddy down there and brought 4 boxes back.

                      I hope you are right
                      .
But if a few of the chains stop selling (not all the Dick's Sporting Goods and Walmarts in CA sell ammo) or increase there CA prices, we will be paying more and ammo might be harder to find.
Hate to be a conspiracy nut, but anything the left can do to make it more difficult will make some people decide that shooting is not worth the hassle.

I was ready to contact you when I saw South Bay. Didn't catch the So Cal part.

The Walmarts near me don't sell ammo (but Gilroy does). Not sure about the new Dicks as I haven't been in. I know the Walmart was a local ordinance which put in place staff requirements that Walmart just didn't want to do. The Bass Pro has gobs of ammo though.

I hope I'm right too, though I shoot very little commercial ammo.

The Wallys up north still sell ammo.
