Shot gun muzzle brake for the utas xtr 12

Any body got any advise on what kind of muzzle brakes would really work well for this gun?

I saw one called the mk02 compensator

But I think it costs over $200

Is this the amount I need to spend to get a good one? Or are there comparable ones in the $50-100 range. I haven't been able to find much in the way of comparisons or actual proven recoil reduction

So does anyone know a good place to find information on this sort of thing?

Unless you just like the way they look, don't waste your money. With the low pressure of shotgun shells a muzzle brake will do little to nothing. You are better off spending the money on shells and shooting it more.

You really don't need one unless you want to be "that guy" at the range.

I thought I saw advertisements claiming up to %70 recoil reduction but I'm guessing it's a farce?

I even had a gun shop owner tell me they make a big difference. He has a saiga 12.

I have no intention on wasting money on visuals without actual effect. If what you guys are saying is accurate, the only thing I can imagine might be useful is one of those door breachers, chances are I'll never actually breach a door but I could always use it bayonet style if I had to

I guess I'll put it on the bucket list

                Like this muzzle

You guys think the recoil reduction claim is bogus?

                I mean look at this

Your telling me the recoil would be the same if he didn't have the brake on there?

Out of curiosity I scanned the video.

I see some issues with his set up.

The bare muzzle test appears to be pointing less parallel (downward). This would account for more muzzle rise which also lift the fixture off the table, greatly reducing the resistance to rearward travel.

As well, simply adding weight (the brake), and near the end of the barrel itself, will influence his results. The muzzle is weighted down and the test device remains in contact with the table, providing resistance. Weight just by itself reduces recoil and any recoil calculator will reveal.

Porting of shotgun barrels (no weight) are reported to accomplish similar numbers...but most who shoot them aren't so sure. As a result, ported barrels are falling out of favor among clay shooters.

                      My tale of two shotguns...

                      Gun 1, ported Browning GTI.
                      Gun 2, non-ported Zoli Kronos.

Both guns, fit and weight is nearly identical...The Zoli has less felt recoil to me, not by much, but still less. If the porting did as some people say, the Browning should feel like it has less recoil. I will say that the porting on the Browning makes it harder to clean.

                        Exactly
Besides, IMO the one who is looking for such crap is never going to hunt
