ruger red label ejector issue

I'm buying a ruger red label 20 ga from a friend at the end of hunting season (he has to have it till end of season). I'm getting it for a good price. I know he has a issue with the ejectors on occasion (also know it's a common problem). anyone had issues with their red label? what was fix (besides sending it to ruger) I will probably send to ruger but want to know what the actual common problem is and the cause if anyone knows. thanks in advance

I had a Red Label (a true Red Label) since 1982, sold it in 2008. There were no issues with that shotgun.
I bought a newer 'All Weather' Ruger Red Label in 1999. There were issues with the gun closing when a round was loaded into the bottom barrel, it would NOT close. I believe that the lower ejector was holding it out too far.
I sent it back to Ruger twice for the same issue, did not fix that problem.
On my third try, I was told that they were shipping it to the Arizona Ruger facility instead of the Connecticut (If I recall correctly) facility. It came back repaired. I had no problems with it until I tried some Estate 12 gauge ammunition in it around 2014. The shoulder where the ejector 'grabs' the brass of the Estate ammo was rounded or out of specification and would slip past the ejector, ending up underneath the ejector. Tough to remove.
I switched to another brand of ammunition and all has been good since. I just took it dove hunting yesterday and it functioned fine using Remington ammo. I will state that the ejectors have LOT of movement, rattle and such, but they have been holding steady since my third go with Ruger.
They stood behind the issue all the time.
