My dog is getting old. I have to offer a carrot, literally, to get him back in the house.

      Makes me sad.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

The 60's vintage, worn smooth as silk 870 Wingmaster that I got from my father. He probably would have frowned on the extended mag tube, Surefire forend and rifle sighted cylinder bore barrel but it's a combination that comes naturally to my hands and hits anything I need to hit with a shotgun.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I suppose that any shotgun you pick up to do battle, de facto, becomes a fighting shotgun. Nearly all modern "tactical" shotguns have their roots in the sporting guns built by the manufacturers so are, in essence, really just modified sporting arms.

I personally, have never been a huge fighting shotgun fan as I would always reach for a rifle if the situation permits that a long gun can be deployed. For many years I have had a 1897 Winchester Trench Gun, a shotgun that I consider the direct ancestor of all tactical shotguns being marketed today.

This particular one was made in 1917. The bayonet was also made by Winchester in 1917 and and it is wearing an original U.S. M1907 sling also dated 1917. Brass 00 buck shotshells are from WWII and were made by Remington.

                That’s one huge bayonet.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.
