    Stoeger Shotgun?

    Hello all,

I am thinking of getting a Stoeger shotgun. I am on the ball about either a side by side or over under for my first one. I plan on using it for skeet and hunting, but it's primarily a range and HD gun.

The side by side would be the Coach Gun model and seems quicker to reload. The over under would be a Stoeger Condor Youth or Outback.

I am not recoil sensitive by any means, but do live with people who are. I know 20g is a tad more expensive than 12g though that doesn't bother me. As far as barrel length goes each shotgun is the same overall length at 36.5in with the only difference being stock and barrel length. Lastly I do not reside in the state of CA, I used to and now live in WA. I wanted to post here since I've gotten good replies in the past.

    Thank you.

My buddy had three of them. The first one broke, so he got another under warrantee. The second one broke, so he got another under warrantee. The third one broke, so he bought a Beretta.

I have a p350. I've used it pretty consistently for the past 7 years. It's never given me any grief. It's basically a Benelli Nova clone.

          Pass

          MIGHT consider a CZ

I'd urge you toward a lightly used Browning Citori or for a bit more $, a Beretta.

I had a stoeger 3500. never had one problem with it. I also have a stoeger Condor 20 ga I bought 2nd hand and have never had any issues with it either. it just started to get a crack in forearm. not a big deal, I have shot the s**t out of it. called stoeger and they said send it back after hunting season and they will take care of it. I also have a CZ and it's a great gun also. neither are Browning or Beretta but everyone has a different price point. I would so with O/U but that's my preference. the stoeger is a bit heavier but it's all what works for you and fits you. I hated 12 o/U cause I had a Beretta that didn't fit me and beat the crap out of me. recently got a heavier 12 ga o/u (mid level o/u) and I love it. however for chasing quail I would rather the lighter CZ 20 ga.

go shoulder some, shoot some of you can.

Sure, everyone has their price point and the Stoeger autos seem to get some decent marks.

But wanting an O/U in the sub $1K category is sketchy at best. I've shouldered some Bakails and the like and they feel like a club. Some CZ's feel pretty good, but some are so stiff it darn near takes to people to open the action. Never shoulda left the factory.

If a guy doesn't have $1K to drop on a multi-purpose shotgun I'd advise sticking to automatics. Several with good track records. Beretta A300 and Weatherby SA-08 come to mind.

I've heard bad things about the O/U stoegers, but few complaints about the SxS ones, especially the double trigger model. Something so simple it's hard to mess up, I suppose.

Not sure why you would get one of those over a pump action though, or a 20 gauge over a 12. You can get very light recoiling 12 gauge rounds and still have the economy and versatility of 12 gauge rounds available to you should you want them.

I'd recommend the mossberg 500 combo they offer, with both the long and short barrel. That will cover anything you want to do with your shotgun for a good price from a reputable company.

If you're absolutely, positively dead set on a double barreled shotgun though, the stoeger coach will probably work fine for you.

Just practice quoting this scene a bit before you get it.

If you get a Stoeger get the SxS Coach Gun with double trigger. I have one it's a nice shotgun. A friend had an O/U with single trigger had problems with trigger.

Thanks everyone. The reason why I am opting for a double barrel as a first shotgun compared to a pump is for a few reasons.

First is not everyone in the house has the time to train on a pump. I am concerned of short stroking and smaller shooters reaching the forearm. A double barrel, while only two shots, is simple enough to operate and is two shots at the pull of a trigger. Second is in terms of legality. While a pump in WA isn't illegal by any means if I did shoot someone and was taken to court to justify use of force a double barrel shotgun wouldn't raise as many eyebrows as a pump shotgun. Depending on when it were to occur as well I have an LCR in 38 SPL as well. If not for home defense it will mainly be a fun range toy to go out with cheap ammo and some friends.

You will not find a case where a good shoot became a bad shoot because of a pump shotgun. Put that reasoning out of your head.

Of course, Uncle Joe Biden says you can shoot through the front door with a double barrel if you're scared.

A coach shotgun for hunting? No. You seem to want a shotgun to do too many things. Buy a Beretta A300.

My p350 has been used and abused for the last 10 years. Still holding up great.

Other than that I don't have much experience with Stoeger.
