Is anyone else in the South Bay in the Wednesday nights trap league at Metcalf?

ive been meaning to check them out too...

when the weather was good...i was going out there couple times a month and just putzing around on my own...

i emailed the sbtl - they told me to just come on down and sign up...
i know the next tourney is 4/4 at metcalf and you just show up at 8:00 am and you get placed on a team...

if anyone does have info or direct contacts for the the happenings at metcalf...i too would love to hear about...

if i could get a "introduction" to someone in the club, would love to check it out...

Oh man that looks awesome, I wonder if I can get my wife to change her knitting night away from Wednesday...
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Just got back, at the end it was a bit nippy, 47 degrees.

Anyways, they had a huge BBQ with tri tip, chicken, hot links, slaw, beans and bread.

We shot a round of trap amongst my new group then the whole club shot a round of trap Annie Oakley style. It was kind of awesome seeing approx 35 shotguns all at once ready to go down one line.

I ended up getting eliminated with about 12-15 people still left on the line.

Didn't go the second round as my fingers were numb.

        Good times though.

the SBTL is different than the metcalf wednesday league, the next shoot is actually tomorrow at Livermore Rod and Gun club. SBTL= south bay trap league. they shoot 50 singles, 50 handicap and 25 pairs of doubles for 150 total rounds.

I believe the league at metcalf shoots 25 singles and 25 handicaps but they may have changed the format so don't take it as gospel.

            Edbon..

You are correct. Metcalf does 25 singles and 25 handicap.

I am officially in the league now. I shot a 18, 20 and 21 @ the 16 and a 13 @ the 20. I have to work on my shooting from station #4 and #5. That seems to be my Achilles heel.

Anybody have pointers for those two stations?

follow thru, most people miss on 4/5 posts due to stopping the gun or moving the gun away from their face. make sure you have good contact with the stock and follow thru there's a tall guy in the league goes by the name of Bob, usually wears a ljutic hat, ask him for pointers he's a damm nice guy and a pretty good shooter.

                Edbon,

Thanks for the pointers. I heard the same from two other guys last night.

Funny you should mention Bob, I met him last night. Hell of a nice guy. Odd style stripping his spent shells though.

I have a guy on my team (Dell) who is supposed to be really good also so hopefully he can school me as well.

It really is. This may sound corny but this is very similar to the dart league I was in when I was in the navy. Very cool people, skills involved, consistency is key (from what I can tell so far). The clincher, is you do it with shotguns!
