    Wanting a new duck sxs

I've tried googling and the search tool here but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. I have been shooting a Miroku Daly 500 20ga since I was 12 (almost 18 years). I love it and won't get another upland gun that isn't a 28ga. I don't mean to be pretentious but I want to only shoot sxs double trigger guns for bird hunting. The thing is I have a stockpile of 12ga 3-1/2" steel shells. Plus my hunting buddy just went to a sxs. A stoger longfowler and loves it. It has a single trigger though. Budget is around $3k, screw-in chokes a bonus. If I need to get chambers lengthened, compident smith recommendations are appreciated. I don't need a beauty but I don't crawl on grinds like I did as a kid. This is a competition with my buddy. Thanks.

I don't know of any Shotgun manufacture that make a sxs for three and half inch ammo?? All the ones I've ever seen or read about were 3" chambered shotguns. On top of that, anything that's decent............... starts around two grand and goes straight uphill after that!
Good luck.......your going to need it!

Isnt it going to be a little harsh on your shoulder 3-1/2 shells out of SXS?

I can't help you, but you might try Shotgun World Forums. There are several competent gunsmiths who post regularly on the forum, as well as many knowledgeable people. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/view...90afc61a573be2

After a quick Google Search seams there is one made. Zabala Canardier

Here is a link to info. http://www.refugeforums.com/threads/...hotgun.921062/ And here are a couple videos of some dudes firing BOTH BARRELS at ONCE!
These videos were sent by my friend. the Canardier is chambered for the 12-bore 3 1/2" magnum but, in addition to that, it has the - possibly unique - feature that it can fire both barrels simultaneously........As the 3 1/2" magnum max load is 63 grams that means that it can put 126 grams of...

There were some American classics that were originally chambered for old 3-1/2" shells, but those guns are not even close to being suitable for modern high pressure steel loads. DO NOT try to use one of those guns.

It seems that there is a serious disconnect between your desire to shoot a DT SxS and your plan to use up your 3-1/2" shells. My feeling is that you need to choose one or the other, or just get two guns.

FWIW, there were Browning Citoris and Beretta 686s produced as 3-1/2" waterfowlers. I have a 686 Black Onyx 3-1/2" and my buddy had a Citori 3-1/2". Both were/are somewhat painful to shoot, and just not worth the grief.

Re the suggestion that you consider a 10 ga gun, you might be able to find chamber inserts to fire 3-1/2" 12 ga shells in a 3-1/2" 10 ga gun. Or buy a 10 ga and have a competent gunsmith chamber sleeve it to 12 ga so that you don't get hassled by game wardens for using a 10 ga on public refuges.

Though I'm one that feels modern guns are much stronger than required for safety, the 3.5" does have a higher SAAMI pressure spec than 3".

Proper mount makes a difference....no it won't be light, but less punishing. Watch this guy using a bad gun mount, then watch the other vids for comparison

So I guess I don't understand the competition between you and your buddy. What is it and how do you win?

Well, of course I have. My problem is that it's always colder when I measure mine. I'm a victim of circumstance.

I don't understand this particular one unless it's to find the weirdest $3k shotgun possible.

It is easy to understand, he wants to save his $300 investment in 3-1/2 shells by buying a $3K toy.
Good excuse to buy a new gun.
