    Clay Pigeon Thrower info requested

I have a Remington 870 shotgun and have never shot skeet or trap and want to buy a Clay Pigeon Thrower.

I looked around at what is available and got confused as what to get.

I would like to have the unit be able to vary the way it throws the targets.
That is, have it set to shoot skeet or trap or ?

An electric one with a foot switch makes sense to get also.
Cost-wise I would go to $250.00 +/- but saw some well below that price.

What brand/model would you recommend to me?
Any other features that you would also recommend?

It looks like a fun activity and want to give it a try.
    Thanks

I don't own one, but have shot over Do-All Raven Auto Trap Throwers. On sale at Cabela's. Have fun.

Of course, you need another person, I would start with a hand held thrower. Get a little experience and figure out where you want to go from there.

About $60 cheaper at WalMart, I've been looking at these for a while, hoping someone that owns one would comment.

I have a hand held, works great.

My wife can't throw it though. She just can't grasp the physical mechanics of how to whip the clay pigeon out and it never comes out of the thrower. She just spins around in a circle, it's freaking hilarious.

Whirley-Bird. Watch Cabelas and slickguns.com, they often pop up for cheap.

                You meant the Champion Wheelybird.

Best $275 my Brother ever spent. We had some issues right away but Champion identified what the problem was over the phone and had a new plate assembly sent out via 3 Day Service. We absolutely love the thing. I used some CAT 5 Cable and put a 200' extension on the wire for the Foot Pedal so we can set the thrower up away and to the side from us to get a more difficult angle on the throw crossing pattern. We can load 60 clays in the magazine and spend time shooting, not futzing around with a spring loaded mechanical thrower.

Trust me, you'll love it too!

Most of those portable ones, have a very difficult time staying in the ground. You either have to weld or bolt them to a spare wheel and tire or you have to put them on plywood. As others have said, I have had very good luck with the handheld thrower

Still have & use a hand thrower, but got a Do-All 3/4-ClayHawk (I believe) as a gift a couple years ago. It works great. IF, you have someone to run the thrower, maybe they can also hand throw a few when your not expecting it. Makes for a lot of fun! Also, as said. The spring loaded throwers need to be weighted down. I've used big rock's, but now use sand bag's.

                      Thanks all for your input.
At this point I am leaning towards the Champion Wheelybird.
Going to view some YouTube videos on it and some others then make the purchase.
Looking forward to this new shooting activity.

My buddy brings his out to the desert twice a year for our camping trips. It works great and we shoot 15 boxes of clays over 2 days no problem. I believe his is a Do-All White Wing thrower.

Some of the best fun to be had (IMO) is with my buddies and some hand throwers, all of us taking turns and trying like hell to throw an escapee...

I have two WingOnes hand throwers. I think they are awesome. Search for WingOne on YouTube for a demo.
