I purchased a wood buttstock on eBay for my Maverick, listed as a 12 Ga stock. However, it is about 1/16" narrower all the way around at the receiver. Does this mean it is a 20 Ga stock? .410?

I like big butts and I cannot lie....Originally posted by Big JakeI will admit, however, that I've known a few ladies that I "helped" to say a few religious things. They screamed it quite loudly as I recall!

Maybe one of the youth stocks?

Nope. The length is fine. It is just not the same width as the receiver, where it meets the receiver.
In all honesty, it fits my like a glove, and the comb is much better then the factory plastic stock. I just hate that it is not lining up with the receiver. Just trying to figure out what gives.Comment

Well, on the plus side, you know the best length of pull for you. Its not that expensive to have a shop get another stock and trim it to length for you.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

Yea, I'm not spending much at all on this Maverick 8-shot. lol This stock cost me $25 shipped. I was just trying to get rid of the crappy plastic. I'll probably use it for a while, until I find a better one on eBay.
I think the fit is more about the comb though. The length is the same as the plastic stock. The gun feels much more balanced with weight in the back also. Seems to shoulder better as a result.
Another big improvement was going to a metal slide action tube that was well broken in, and a nice forearm. The Action is much smoother. The plastic pinned arm forends seem sticky on the mag tube.Comment

If you still have the plastic forearm. Not a biggy to make match.
[1]...Remove the finish, and Scruff up the wood on the upper portion of pistol grip/receiver contact area.
[2]...3 coats of Johnson"s paste wax on the receiver. [release agent]
[3]...Reassemble. Then mix and smear "BONDO" on the pistol grip/receiver contact area, until it is thicker than the receiver.
[4]...Wait 2 hrs. Then remove butt stock from receiver. Use files and sandpaper to blend new thicker pistol grip/receiver contact area. To match the receiver periphery.
[5]...Paint black.
[6]...Reassemble,....................... go Choot It.
You reposted while I was typing.
Paint the new forearm also
You can even build up the comb area a bit more if it suits you.
What's under the paint, no one but you ever knows.
