LED Follower for HD shotgun.

I saw this on eBay, anyone have experience? It flashes an LED after the last round leaves the magazine. https://www.gogaugetactical.com/ I guess you could also poke your finger in the mag tube and see if it activates the light, to see if unloaded in no/low light.

I was planning on buying a delrin follower anyway, and this is honestly about the most reasonably priced one, except for their model with no LED.

The S&J Hardware delrin followers are very nice, great reputation and inexpensive. They also have a tactile difference from a shell, so you can tell with a touch if you are touching the follower or not the follower (a shell).

I believe there is a button on the end of the follower which activates a momentary switch to turn on the flasher when released. Looks that way in the pic.

Usually lithium batts don't leak. I have had lead acid cells, and the old mercury batts leak. Never had a lithium battery leak though.

Yea, the S&J was my first idea, this just popped up in a search, and I think I like it.

Well, there's the amusing prospect of having your shotgun tell the bad guys when you're out of ammunition and where you are when you're out.. Seriously, though, its a gimmick.
If you like toys (And who here doesn't?) then get it but only as a toy and one that may have unintended consequences.

Still doesn't show how the switch works. If it is anything other than a real on/off power interrupter switch, it is a non starter for me. If it is a 'smart' or electronic / soft switch, that means it has a constant parasitic load and besides never working when you need them to, batteries in such devices are much more prone to leakage.

If it does have a parasitic load, it is full on gimmick in my book. If it has a real power on/off switch, I'd almost give it a second thought. But I would not want the flash circuit, as that is more electronic crap unlesss it is done old school with a transitor and capacitor. No ICs, no soft switches.

And it still needs a tactile backup. Looking at that thing, I don't see how you could tell by feel alone that it wasn't a shell if the light was DOA.

Personally, if I'm using a shotty in a gun fight, I'm probably not carrying any spare rounds. Maybe some on a side saddle but, I'd prefer my handgun with 10 rounds and I would be carrying a spare mag with 10 more rounds. My rifle, same thing, one full mag in it and one full mag. attached to it.

So, shotgun max of 9 rounds in it (unless you have those "short" shells) maybe 5 more on the side = 14 rounds. Plus, you'd have to hand load each new round vs. handgun or rifle 10 rounds ready to go + 10 more rounds in an easy to swap out magazine.

If your in a situation where you run dry and the only thing giving away your position is a dim blinking light. Someone f'd up. After actually watching the vids per their sight it doesn't seem like it's primary purpose is to tell you when it's empty. It's to give you a reference point to reload.

Spend the $20.00 towards a shotgun light. It will serve you better.
