H&R model 88- Broken forearm screw

I am working on a H&R model 88 that has a broken threaded piece that the forearm screw attaches to. It is broken off flush to the barrel surface, but looks like it was probably a standoff arrangement where the standoff is screwed into the barrel, and then the forearm screws into it.

Is anyone familiar enough with these shotguns to know if my assessment of the configuration is correct? The schematics I have looked at do not show the standoff as a separate piece so I am wondering if it is a press fit piece and not a screw in.

The attachment methodology of the standoff will determine what approach I will take to remove it.

    TIA

    Looking at my

HR 88 it looks like it may be pressfit countersunk, but I could be wrong.

Good luck. It's a fun little Elmer Fudd SG to shoot!

Thanks for checking. I looked closer today and think you are right about it being a press fit. If I can get a good center punch, I should be able to drill it out.

I like your Elmer Fudd description, it is very apropos.
