Many confuse Winchester AA with the less expensive Winchester Target that comes in Walmart 4 pack

Win low base aluminum hulls caused nasty failure to extract issues. Polishing chamber and sanding/polishing barrel extension solved it.

Also straightened out dimple (didn't drill or grind) so I could install factory extension. Straightened out by using a sliced piece of pvc pipe to rest lower half of tube opposite dimple and the other half on top of the tube above dimple. Pvc saddle protects curvature of tube for following steps. Then pick various sizes of std and met sockets that only need a little force to insert. Once inserted, used c-clamp to slightly compress dimple (moving it a bit each time). Then repeat with slightly larger socket. When almost complete, used largest socket that would fit with no pvc or c-clamp and just used hammer to directly tap tube above dimple to finish it off.

Don't just pound something inside tube or you might stretch or deform the tube and have problems getting barrel over it.

Got longer spring from Remington and it has worked like a champ.
Wow, that method is out of the ordinary, thanks for sharing.

        Hey gang,

I just made an observation about my Remington:

The forend grip, the piece that you grab onto and slide back and forth to function the shotgun, is quite big and long.

When in full retraction (ejection port is fully opened), the end of the forend grip that is closest to the shooter....extends far back that it is almost level with the midpoint of the loading port.

I've seen forend grips that are shorter and leaner. Watching " hickock45's " older video where he shoots his son's Remington 870 with the wood stocks and foregrips, that older shotgun has a smaller, leaner, more cylindrical part than mine. Mossberg's forened grip are also like that older Remington's.....shorter and more cylindrical.

I like that kind. Perhaps, those of you who are more knowledgeable about shotguns can recommend me where I can get that kind of forend. I've checked Remington's website, and all they have is just like mine. Wood, rubber, or synthetic, I really don't care as long as it is shorter, and more cylindrical than what I currently have.

To put it mildly, what I have looks like a.......pregnant guppy! This is also one of the reasons.....I dislike Benellis and prefer the looks of Beretta's and Stoeger semi-auto shotguns.

        Thanks again.

I use both the shotgun parts section of the equipment exchange on ar15.com. I picked up a perfect walnut butt stock with a lot of grain and a matching frond in walnut, both unchecked as you'd expect for Police Magnum furniture.

You could also try HoosierGunWorks.com, click on the online catalog button and see what they have.

My mistake about the Winchester AA's. Re garbage ammo I was referring to is the Winchester Universal sold at Walmart. It's a low brass shell but the metal is actually steel (or something else) and definitely not brass. Thanks for the corrections.

As for the foreend, how about something like this: http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-par...prod10273.aspx

Here is what is on my 870: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/95...nthetic-police

I don't know if these fit on the Express although I don't see why they would not.

A note about the shorter fore-end; it makes it harder for shooters with shorter arms to reliably cycle the shotgun.

I think what I want is the one on the Remington Police, but I was quite taken back by Brownells price!

I will try HossierGunWorks.com as advised by " -hanko " on Post #35 above, maybe browse the AR15.com website too for a used one.

I measured what I have on my shotgun, it is 9 1/16 inch in length. I would scout for something around 7 1/2 inch or close to that.

one upgrade you might consider is a Volquartson extractor. My Wingmaster wasn't extracting some shells, and this made a huge difference. 23 bucks and 3 minutes to swap out.
