Looking for 12Ga buckshot under 1000FPS

I found one candidate in the Winchester Ranger 12 2 3/4"
00 Buckshot Low recoil, but the FPS 1145, only slightly less recoil than
    normal 12Ga.

I like the Ranger attribute of low flash as well.

Is there anything out there that is under 1000 FPS?

    This is for home defense.

You're better off going to something like #4. Heavy and slow can keep on going, I had an ND (fully my fault) in a circa 2000 tract house and I went through 2 layers of drywall, a goodly portion of a stud, a full laundry basket on the other side and through one more layer of drywall (but not the chair rail) and into the wall cavity.

This is actually for a friend, but he is concerned about collateral
issues. That's why he asked me to find some low velocity stuff.

I have been searching this entire time and the ONLY low FPS I can find is
Hevi-Shot Hevi-13, a tungsten nickel load that runs at 1090FPS.
Great! Except it's $40.00 per box of 5.

      I'll keep looking.

        Black powder.

HD means you will have to replace the carpet, may as well get new drapes too.

I think I found the solution.

A company call Lightfield Home Defence makes a number of home/self defense
products, using rubber projectiles. They fill the bill on all points AND no replacing the carpet if you have to use it!

Sportsmans Guide sells this line of product.

Those 1145 fps #00 buckshot loads with 9 pellets are basically the same as birdshots used for trap/skeet shooting. If you find that they have too much recoil, you might not want a shotgun for home defense.

Have you considered using a AR-15 instead?

Alternatively, you can get those subsonic target loads, like this one:

Remove the birdshots and replace it with 9 #00 buckshot pellets.

Don't do this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. Don't mess with ammunition you're going to use for self defense.

The rubber buckshot idea is also nonsense for home defense. If you (your friend) wants to use a shotgun for home defense buy the low recoil 00 buck and be done with it.

I like the Federal LE132 load, but there re others out there. If that doesn't fit the need then move to another gun.

Rubber bullets? For home defense? That's a really good way to end up dead. If someone is in your house in the middle of the night, initially you've go no idea what you're dealing with. And the time it takes to figure that out, realize the dude is armed and doesn't care about taking your life, cycle through the stupid rubber bullet, you could be dead. Replacing the carpeting should be the least of your worries.

Tungsten is ultra dense and most likely penetrates deeply, that's why it's so expensive. Rubber shot? Good way to get yourself killed by someone with a real gun.
