Is a Rossi Coach 20 ga California legal?

I've been looking to purchase a SxS for a long time and found an out of state seller. He states it is a Rossi Coach with an 18" barrel and overall length of 27", external hammer, dual trigger, but has a pistol grip. Is not sure if it was modified. I've attached 2 pics that he provided. With California laws and the lack of response from the California DOJ, I am inquiring here to see if I can get any California Penal code that says it is legal or illegal. Thank you for any response.

Thank You 'The Highwayman for the chart, excellent! Only issue is California's definition of a shot gun. 'Intended to be fired from the shoulder'. Thanks again

Well after further investigation, this Coach is not California legal. Will have to pass and keep looking.

Why is it not legal in CA, if this is legal? http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/moss...-gauge-shotgun

As long as it was originally sold in that config and never had a buttstock, shouldn't it be good to go as an 'other' firearm?

Yah I agree, but have inquired with local leo and they state if you are unable to provide docs stating it is in it's original configuration, it is illegal. Burden of proof is all they will say. So just not going to take a chance, especially here in California. Nice little rifle though. Trying to find a possibile replacement stock, but waiting for dimensions first. Then maybe I will purchase and convert to a doc stock. Thanks for the response

              Under CA laws...
A firearm that shoots shotgun shells and has a barrel length of less than 18" is a SBS. [PC 17180(a)]
A firearm that shoots shotgun shells and has an overall length of less than 26" is a SBS. [PC 17180(b)]
A firearm that is made from a shotgun and has a barrel length of less than 18" or has an overall length of less than 26" is a SBS. [PC 17180(c)]

              Therefore...
If the firearm that shoots shotgun shells has a barrel length of 18" or greater and an overall length of 26" or greater, then it is CA legal.
