Benelli tactical owners - why is my front sight post offset right?

I picked up a pre-ban Hk imported Benelli M1 Super 90 Combat recently. I have been doing some upgrades including changing the rear sight to the milled LPA sight from the M4, and today I changed out the front sight post to XS Big Dot tritium.

While getting the front sight tightened down and aligned, I noticed that the front sight cage is offset on the front sight tower when the two marks are aligned. The staked tower alignment marking notch is either incorrectly offset or intentionally offset - to the right. And not just a little - it is pretty significant. The question is intentional or not, and if intentional - why??

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I went ahead and lined it up with the notch for now.

Because thats where it shot when sighted in and tesffired, have you shot it with slugs yet.?

Perhaps, but that would mean it was test fired and marked before finishing, because I have examined it under magnification and it looks like that notch was finished with the tower. Also the rear sight is adjustable for windage, including the one I replaced, so I don't know why they would mark the front sight based on individual test firing.

Will be shooting with slugs at 50 & 100yds very soon. We'll see how it goes, I'll bring the wrench just in case

I'm not sure why that happens, if you put the original front sight back, does the alignment not line up too?

Alternatively, put on a Burris Speedbead Mount and a Burris Fastfire III on it and be totally tactical.
