    JM Pro 930 24 inch - Advice

    Hi Calgunners,

I'm in line to buy a Mossberg JM Pro 930 with a 24 inch barrel. This gun will be used for 3-gun when my overall skills get there.

In the meantime I was wondering how this gun performs for:
    -Pigeon Clays
    -Trap
    -Skeet

I won't be purchasing another shotgun. Would I be able to perform adequately for fun when shooting pigeon clays, trap, and skeet?

    Thanks guys

More than able to do all you want, consider looking at a Berretta A300 as well. Best All around shotgun under $1k

I shoot mine at shotgun matches, but I shoot trap and skeet with it occasionally.

It works good. Give it a good cleaning when you take it home, and after a few hundred rounds. It'll treat you well.

I cannot think of a finer "do everything decently" shotgun than the JM pro series. Especially not for the price. The gas system is simple and pretty reliable. Buy with no trepidation, my friend.

Might want to look into getting your lifter welded, your thumb will thank you.

I've taken the NorCal Skeet Clinic with my 24" and it works fine!

If you get a used gun, ensure that it runs. Go over on brianenos.com and research some of the issues that people experienced when they 1st came out a few years ago. Do a search under the "Shotgun - Technical" section.

The new guns may have had the issues ironed out by now.

                Things you need to know.

It likes to shoot bird shot that is 1200 or more fps and 1.125 oz lead.

Less than that, reliability may go down a wee bit. Specially when its new.

buy some lead cleaning cloth or fine steel wool. You'll need it to clean the gas tube. a clean gas tube makes for a very reliable JM Pro. JM has a video on cleaning. It's almost as easy as cleaning a Glock, except for the need of a 4mm allen wrench.

A light coating of an appropriate oil on the gas tube keeps em cleaner after use. I like CLP or, even better, MPro-7 gun oil.

if your going to shoot skeet or trap, fit ur shotgun to you. The shim kit that comes with it is very effective. you can also cut the stock a full inch with some minor mods.
