Slug Question

For my M4 and 870

I have shot Federal Premium Barnes Expander Sabot Slugs and Federal Truball Rifled Slugs without any problem. Whats the deal with using slugs and an un rifled barrel. I have not shot more than 75 yards with either and they are fine at these ranges. We shot up an abandoned car (about 25 yards) that had been burned up in the desert and the slugs left some impressive damage and holes.

Shooting slugs at a car while great fun generally doesn't really teach you about where your slugs hit.

Put cardboard out at the distance you want to zero or know your zero and then shoot and make corrections.

My recommendations for slugs are availability first and cost second.

You don't need a rifled barrel to shoot slugs, in fact rifled slugs are made for smoothbore shotguns.
