Mossberg 930 tactical...is it CA legal?

I'm new to the sport and cali laws, so don't be too brutal with the replys. I'm geared up to get a Mossberg 930 tactical (also referred to as the 930 SPX) non-pistol grip. Is this a cali legal model? I read a lot on the Bereau of Firearms website, but it's got my head spinning from all the redundancies.

    Thanks

PS. I searched around the site and google too. Came up empty.
    ...the last one's for me.

Yes it is California legal. You might have trouble finding one as they are in demand.

Hey, thanks. I'll start looking tomorrow. I don't mind waiting for a bit.

Stupid question...is the pistol grip one CA legal too?

Here is the PC that you need to be familier with:

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
          (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
          (A) A folding or telescoping stock.
          (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
          (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
          (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
As long as the shotgun does not violate this, and the 18" barrel/26" OAL measurements that would make it an Short barrelled shotgun, you should be fine.
          Jack

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Just to clarify/summarize: with the 18" barrel/26" OAL in mind, a semiauto shotgun (Moss 930) with a pistol grip AND a collapsible stock is illegal. You must choose a pistol grip OR a collapsible stock if you want to add features; they may not be added together on the same gun. Correct? Thanks.

can't really have that set up on a semi-auto any how as the rod goes into the stock and wouldn't really allow for a collapsible stock

you can have a fixed pistol grip stock....but not a collapsible one

Knoxx is ok for 870, because it is pump shotgun, not semi auto shotgun.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

You can put whatever you want on a pump action shotgun, just make sure you keep the barrel and overall lengths legal.

If the tang safety was a big deal, why would mossberg offer a pistol grip version 930SPX? Unless you are speaking of personal opinion.
