Starting a trap club at my college?

I am currently attending the Sierra College in Rocklin, and having moved here from the Bay Area, I was surprised (and honestly feeling left out) when I found that several high schools in the area have offered trap teams for their students. However, my college does not. I have been seriously considering making a suggestion/prompting action to form a trap team.

Any suggestions on the most effective way to maybe make it a reality? Most highschools that shoot trap around here travel to the nearest larger-scale trap club(Coon Creek), which is about 25 minutes from this college.

Do you want to compete with other colleges or just among yourselves in public competetions? If the later a "trap club" would be a lot easier to start.

Simply among ourselves. I'm just not too sure about what course of action would be best for suggesting it to college administration.

Propose it to the university as an activity/elective/whatever. Have a coach/professor ready to take the position. Get accepted, receive some funding from the school, promote the new class/team, have fundraisers, win competitions, get sponsors.

There should be someone at the college/university that deals with clubs and events. Find them, talk to them. If you can't find them ask the librarian or ask in admissions and records.

www.caclaytarget.com gives "how to's" for setting up a high school team/league. Maybe see if they have something to offer on the college level.

Go to Coon creek on a Sunday and chat with the coaches of the high school teams to see how they got started. They can offer some opinions on what your next steps could be.

Check out the Auburn Trap Club. Great club & range. Also, closer than Coon Creek. Most of the High School teams from Roseville to Colfax, practice there. Talk to Chris. If he cannot answer your questions, he can point you in the right direction. They are open Saturday, Sunday, & Thursday's.

Sierra College's administration may allow such a team. However, a lot of students at Sierra commute in from quite a distance away, relative to other CCs in the Sacramento area.
