Purchased my first shotgun.. Rem 870.. Advise please

Well as the title says I've had plenty of toys, but never a shotgun until today.. Can you guys please advise what kind of rail system I could purchase for a micro red dot, and side saddle, as well as a good conversion kit to change out the grip and stock???

Any advise would be greatly appreciated..

Sure, spend the money you'd waste on that non sense, on ammo, and you'll be miles ahead.

You're in Corona, Raahauge's and Prado are in you back yard. Spend some money at either one, you'll enjoy it.

          ^ listen to those guys.

Almost everyone (particularly young people) who gets a new kind of gun, feels an unquenchable desire to immediately "deck it out". I know I've been there. But listen - whatever you buy now, you will inevitably change your mind about later. Nearly every acccessory I've bought for a brand new gun before I even shot it, has eventually ended up in a drawer. Do your wallet (and yourself) a favor, and send a thousand shells downrange before you buy anything besides a bore brush.

I've seen soooooo many people start with a basic gun (shotgun, pistol, rifle, whatever), then load it up with expensive accessories, and after a short time it ends up going back to just the basic gun again, with all those accessories in a drawer or sold in the marketplace for 1/2 what they paid.

Just trying to save you some money... though I know you're probably going to ignore that advice and go buy a bunch of crap anyways, they all do But it was worth a try

Unless your pockets are deep so you don't care - in which, case knock yourself out. Just make sure you spend at least as much money on ammo as you spend on tactical toys.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

The advice above is correct. All that "tacticool" stuff wights down your SG , probably won't really get shot much[read practice] and serves what purpose? Get a handgun for HD and practice with your first SG at the range. That is my advice.

I think you already have an eye dominance issue. Or it could be an eye cold.

Tacticooling a shotgun really doesn't add much to its performance. In fact kinda hinders it. Shoot some trap and you will see what we mean.

The Lord inspired Stoner to invent the AR so people would have a gun to hang tacti-fool mess off of. Leave your shotgun alone.

If you want to improve the stock fine but skip the optics unless it is a hunting gun. In that case look at the Mesa Tactical Shell holder with rail. The rail sits up high enough over the receiver so that if your optics fail you just look under the rail and anything appearing in that tunnel with catch shot. Great back up sighting system.

                            ^^^What most said.

OP - There are 2 types of gun owners:
                            1. Collectors that don't take classes - almost always falls under being "tacticool", but isn't practical. They usually just spend money on unnecessary items that just looks cool, no real purpose, and rarely takes classes. They may go to shooting range to shoot paper targets occasionally, but nothing beyond that
                            2. Actual shooters - Most have grown past the "tacticool" phase. Now knows how to save money by being more practical and uses the money to take classes in order to excel their knowledge, improve their skills, and handling firearms safely. May still buy some "tacticool" here and there, but mostly focuses on practicality.

Nothing wrong with either. I would highly recommend using that extra money for classes over being tacticool. However if you have the money to burn and want to stay tacticool, then go ahead and deck it out.

I wouldn't even get a shell holder. If you need more rounds than a shotgun carries you chose the wrong gun to begin with.
