    Question about shooting trap

I have a Mossy Persuader with normal buttstock and 20 in barrel , and I plan to order the 28" barrel from Mossberg soon...until then...

Question's: Will everyone look at me like I'm a tard with the 20 in barrel shooting trap??

Will it even work effectively?? Its a 20 in barrel with no choke.

I shot trap with an 18" 870 last weekend. Got weird looks for a few older people with their expensive o/u. I hit 21/25 with it though

I've shot trap with an 18" .410. It's not easy, but I busted a few. Short barrels with open chokes make it pretty difficult to hit the clay unless you get it within the first second or two after it comes out of the thrower. I've seen quite a few people out at the range shooting trap with 18" and 20" barrels. It's really all about practice. If you practice enough, you can hit anything. I usually can out shoot the older guys with the $2500 O/U's with my $500 Remmy Spartan.

Any certain size shot to use to better hit the clays with a 20" barrel??

While out of state, I've tried to break clays with a 10" .410 on a Contender. It's not easy. I do like the challenge of shooting trap with a "normal" .410 or 28 gauge though.

It should work from the 16 yard line, just shoot quickly before the clays get out of range.

Not that it "matters", but you posted the question twice...trap barrels usually run from ~26" to 30", whether you're labeled as a "tard" depends on with whom you're shooting.

It won't work as well as a longer barrel, and generally a trap gun is choked relatively tightly.

So....you're saying its gonna happen a lot then eh??

I must have forgotten my other post...prolly cuzz I'm a tard.

Seriously though.....I just wanted to know if it was a bad idea to try now....or if I should wait a while for the 28" barrel for a better experience.
