My Shotgun is Making a Weird Little Noise...

    Hello,

I bought a Mossberg from BIG5 a while back. Have not fired it. It came with 2 barrels. I took off the long barrel and installed the shorter 18.5" barrel. I have single shot shotguns but this is my first pump. I have not even shot it yet.

I noticed today, while pulling it out to look at it (getting ready to shoot it for the first time this weekend), that when I tilt the shotgun pointed up position to pointed down, I hear what sounds like, a loose part inside the tube or somewhere, sliding around.

It's very faint but I can feel what I would describe as a "spring" moving around. Now this may be normal, but since I've never owned a pump before, this may be the normal spring sliding around. Or maybe the spring is loose and I need to fix it. I don't know. The sound is very faint and it's more something I can feel than hear. It's not loud and clankity like a screw. It's soft and jittery sound like a spring.

Can you please tell me if hearing a "spring" move around inside a pump shotgun is normal? I don't know if it's a spring, but it feels like a light piece of something metal that slides around when I tilt the gun up to the down position and vice versa.

    Thanks.

I must add that I can slide the forearm back and forth and dryfire it without any problem. It feels normal to me in that regard. Doesn't jam or feel weird. Again, it's just when i point it extremely up and then downward.

    Thanks.

It's the hunting plug to limit the shotgun to 2 rounds in the tube. If you remove the barrel and tilt the shotgun down and forward you'll see the chopstick. pull it out so you can get max capacity.

Unless, you are going to hunt birds with it!

Oh cool. Thanks so much. I did not know this. I guess reading the manual would have told me this?
