11-87P carrier / shell lifter stuck!

    Hello all,

I'm having trouble with my 11-87P : the carrier / shell lifter is stuck and won't feed rounds into the chamber. It was initially stuck with the bolt open but after the working the action some the bolt does release but now it won't hold open.

It has the Dave's metal works shell lifter installed on it.

Anyone have any advice or know any one that works on these guns?

I love this gun, felt recoil is almost non-existent compared to my 870 and it runs the cheap wally world bulk pack ammo with no problems (except maybe occasionally not locking the bolt back on the last round).

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

    D.

Have you pulled the barrel off, and the bolt out to look at it?

I have heard of that happening with that after market carrier. You would be well served to get that off the gun and install the Remington Competition Carrier. It is the one that comes on the 1100 Tactical and the 11-87 Police. Here is how simple it is to install and no modifications to the gun.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

The Remington carrier works very well, and it's easy to install. Plus it's pretty cheap. I have an 11-87 Police, and while it's pretty damn heavy, it is the softest shooting shotgun I own.

Thank you the the advice gents.

I pulled the trigger group out the gun then pulled the carrier out (thank you for the video JD).

I then put everything back together and noticed the carrier wasnt riding in the groove in the receiver so I pushed it back in.

Seems to be lifting again but I will definitely be looking into the competition carrier.

I remember the problem starting after a shell got stuck between the carrier and the easyloader.

Will have to take it out again to run some rounds through it to verify (bolt locks back after manually cycling every round), but I'm thinking I'll just swap it out for a competition carrier and see if that will help.
