After getting a true beating from my M2 this hunting season I finally sat down a while ago and did a Performance Tuning. May help others with shotgun shooting issues
Things that were adjusted
1) Recoil
2) Drop at comb
2) Shell ejection (was about 10ft)
3) Pitch for the high angle I usually shoot at.
4) added 11oz of weight to the stock
5) replaced the wedge recoil pad with a flat one
6) Added padding o the back of the trigger guard
Recoil reduction..... Replaced the wedge recoil pad that was concentrating the recoil on a small surface area with one that spread the recoil over the surface of the whole pad. Lowered the Drop at Comb to fit me better as I tend to shoot with a mild cheek weld. Added positive pitch by fabricating a small wedge and fixing it to the bottom of the pad...this keeps more pad on the shoulder for the way I shoot, again spreading the recoil over a larger area. Added weight to balance the gun to my hand positions and more weight = less recoil.
Shell ejection---- Replace the action spring with a Wolf heavy spring. Don't know if it helps on shooting comfort , but its no longer ejecting shells 10 ft away making it easier to pick up my mess and I feel the action is not slammed back reduces wear and stresses
Well I shot it on two hunts last week and what a Freak'n difference.....shot about 20 rounds of Rem 3 " Hype sonic in a few hours, recoil was on the high end, but much much nicer on the body and another box would have been a non issue......all my empties, 3 feed away
