    870 with Metal Trigger group

When did they only become available to law enforcement ? Picked one up 2 years ago with MTG but now I am being told that the MTG 870 is a LEO only shotgun now.

Its not LEO only. You can still buy them but there is only one major distributor for them and they almost never have them in stock. Even some of the LE guns I've seen lately have been plastic.

Funny, I have never not had then in stock. But why would you want one as the Polymer that comes in the Express is superior to the cast aluminum ones. All 870 trigger assemblies have the exact same parts, except the Police has one little spring different and that is there for Marketing. Save your money and use the one you have if you are thinking it is some kind of upgrade to put a cast aluminum trigger assembly in an 870 then waste the money and down grade your gun. But if you are just needing a trigger plate assembly for some reason get the Polymer.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

We have had bad luck with the polymer ones. Always seem to break on us at work. Got a price on the MTG for $65 thru a Buddy. Going to just buy a new 870 n have a MTG for back up.

As far as I can tell, not having ordered this assembly, but it appears Brownell's will sell the trigger group to anyone (delivered in the USA):
Shop shotgun trigger group parts (94) at Brownells, including trigger guards, safety selectors, sears, and hammers for enhanced performance and customization.

          or if you prefer MidwayUSA:

Brownells has idiots writing that stuff. Aluminum can not be Parkerized. It is painted and scratches off easy.

Midway has become a Den of Thieves. $119? Anyone can call Remington and buy That part as part number F102203 for $102.95.

Sorry to hear you had issues. I build and sell hundreds of guns to LEO's and most have the Polymer assembly because it is so much better and I have never had an Issue. If a Patrol Officer can't tear it up then it can't be tore up

I have an old Wingmaster LE gun with metal, a 15 year old Express Magnum with polymer, and a newish 870P with metal. All of them work fine and I doubt the polymer TG would ever be compromised through normal use.

One thing I didn't see mentioned here is the lawyer lock and key that the Express has on the trigger guard. I detest it. Lose the key and the safety cannot be manipulated if the gun is "locked "

While not expert, I believe Remington played with the lock for a few years & then abandoned it.
