    Shotgun shell deals?

Sorry for being such a shotgun noob, but I was wondering what are normal prices for run-of-the-mill 12-gauge shot practice loads? I saw that Big5 has a box of 25 #8 on sale for $6. How much does it go for at WallyWorld or local gun stores?

Get the walmart value pack, you can pick either winchester or federal, theyre the same price. I alwyas have better luck with the federals though

I was at Walmart yesterday and bought 1 100rd pack of Federals, and 1 100rd pack of Winchesters. They were both $22.72 each. There was also a 100rd pack of Remingtons, but they were $24.xx so I decided to pass. For $22.72 per 100, a 25rd box comes out to about $5.68. At Big 5, the 25rd boxes generally sell for $7.99-$8.99, but, as you said, they have a sale going on now for $5.99/box. They are the Winchester AA brand, and I've had pretty good luck with these in my 870 for trap shooting. I used the $5 off $25 coupon and bought 5 boxes of these today as well for $27.01 out the door, which comes out to about $5.40 after tax, or, about $4.98/box. So, for the time being, as long as you use the $5 off $25 coupon, you can get shells cheaper at Big 5 than at Walmart. Plus, you don't have to actually have to go into Walmart and wait for the "customer service rep" to come to the "sporting goods" counter to ring you up, which is worth a couple of dollars in and of itself.

Here is a link to the coupon in case you decide to use it.

If you're doing trap or skeet, and shoot the 8 or 7.5 shot, go with the 1oz shells. There isn't much of a difference between the 1 1/8 and 1 oz loads, and a box of 25 Federal Game loads only cost $4.67 at the 'Mart. Which is cheaper than the 100 value pack at $22.XX compared to $18.XX.

Federals are crap. Spend the little extra and go for the Remington #6's for birds for skeet the federals will do but the wads in them are loose and cause big patterns.

I'll have to pay a visit to Walmart...I don't necessarily like them but, you have to do what you have to do to get your ammo cheap, I guess.

It'll be nice after paying almost $30 for a box of 50rds. of 00 or #4.
