Semi auto shotgun ammo capacity

Hi I'm wanting to purchase a Mossberg 930 spx with a pistol grip that holds 7+1 rounds. I just wanted to make sure that it will be CA legal. I've read some places say only 5+1 rounds are allowed? Or do I just need to install some type of spacer to make it 5+1?

Completely legal. CA mag capacity is limited to 10rds. (small exception apply to rimfire tube fed, not relevant here.)

The 5+1 you've heard about is likely the capacity limit on imported shotguns. However it is possible to legally increase this limit on some guns if 922R is followed. 922R gets a little crazy as it involves swapping a certain number of specific foreign parts to US parts (if they exist).

Imported, and some hunting regulations limit capacity.
No permanence is required, a simple wooden dowel in the tube suffices.
