Check out velcro shell holders like this http://www.skdtac.com/Esstac-Shotgun-Card-p/ess.106.htm
Just a thought in case you don't want to drill/tap your receiver or use chunky/heavy side saddles.Comment

Velcro cards by SOE or skd like above mentioned. Use to have a plastic permanent side saddle... never looking back with the Velcro now.WTB S&W Model 10 or S&W 357 (of various models) 3 or 4" barrel.

The new Mesa Tactical Poly Shell holder is the one I feature as it has duel retaining tubes in the back plate that holder the shells securely. It retails for around $40 which is $30 less then the Mesa Aluminum. See it at www.mesatactical.comJD McGuire, Owner

Hopetonbrown for some reason I never thought of the weight added with the 8 round card. I think I'm going to go with the 5 round card. Makes the most sense. Couple extra on the side and it doesn't effect the weight of the gun to much. I also saw the gg & g side saddle with its slanted holders. Looks like an interesting option.Comment

Did you even watch the video? His points are pretty sound. He's simply laying out all the options. Sure, he's a little goofy- take some of what he says with a grain of salt. He makes you think.Originally posted by HopetonBrownWhy would a former Air Force transport pilot have "real world insights" on tactical shotgun use?
Regardless, I agree with you. Velcro cards have my vote.Last edited by DeliveryBoy; 12-18-2016, 9:07 PM.WTB S&W Model 10 or S&W 357 (of various models) 3 or 4" barrel.

I ordered two different Esstac saddles after I posted in this thread and found them interesting.
Not impressed.
Great for possibly air soft, but put them on two shotguns yesterday, clean surfaces for the velcro ( which they don't include ) and both of them peeled off the gun today.
Industrial velcro peels off, so I would have to use more adhesive, which Im not going to do on my shotguns..
I guess I just don't see why anyone would base their reloads on a sticker.
Im sticking with the mesa tactical, thats great that is meant to last..Comment

Duracoat degreaser.Originally posted by HopetonBrownWhat product did you use to prep the receiver?
I've had velcro on some of my shotguns for years now.
I had a Mesa aluminum sidesaddle on my Benelli M4. After taking my first tactical shotgun class I took it off, and replaced it with velcro. You can time your reloads out of those metal side saddles with a sundial.
Also, I think the esstac's are too big. 5 to 6 capacity maximum.
I agree with the size, I got a 5 slot, thats about perfect.
We tried them with a heat gun a little bit ago, will leave them overnight and see where we end up.
Seems like a great idea, maybe its the former infantry man speaking but adhesive backed gear worries me....
Ill let you know what I have tomorrow and if I come in to the shop to see my saddles on the floor!
Thanks.Comment
