Any thoughts on comparison of these two items would be appreciated. Waterfowl application.
    Thanks everyone

My Versamax has worked for 2 years hunting, competing, and just general shooting. The only malfunctions I have ever had were with max power (1650fps) slugs.

The SX3 is a good gun as well but I also like the weight of the Rem, and it fit me better out of the box.

I tried finding info on Winchester's gas system, but I don't see any info. They talk about everything except the mechanical operation, which is interesting.

Since you'll probably have more "this vs. that" threads, here's my pick:

Berretta/Benelli, Versamax, high end o/u, other beretta/benelli knockoffs, 870/500 marine, 870/500, fn slp, everything else.

Edit: looks like Super X3 is made in Belgium by FN, so it's just a rebranded SLP?

Honestly I am looking right now for a Beretta 1301, which is super reliable, light, and soft shooting.

So awesome. Beretta makes incredible shotguns.

Isn't the 1301 Blink gas system the fastest semi auto?

There is a potential problem with the 1301, if you press the bolt release button when the gun is loaded and the bolt is forward, you can lock up the gun.

                Interesting.
Yeager is a funny guy. He says he'd never give a shotgun to a "novice" and his "solution" is to remove/cut the bolt release.

Anyway, a quick google search shows this is a known issue and supposedly a "feature" taken from one of their Franchi models, meant to allow easy unloading.

Completely useless feature and not a great candidate for self defense, but awesome shotgun nonetheless. I still want one.

We've been using a couple of Versamax's for waterfowl for about 4 years.
Only clean them at the end of the season and never had any problems.
If you like the way remington's fit, you'll like this gun.
                  Softest shooting gun you'll find.
It looks to me that the gas system was copied from Benelli's ARGO system.

I use the sx3 for duck hunting and love it. It's really reliable and it patterns really well with a kicks full. A quick google search will give you lots of results of reliability problems with the versa max. You won't regret a sx3 purchase.
