Remmington Versa Max review

Could someone out there please give a knowledgeable review/comparison of the Remmington Versa Max and other SA shotguns chambered 3.5"?

Absolutely excellent shotgun, highly recommend, must buy.

If you a-b test the Versamax and a Benelli, it's noticeable that Benelli's are more finely crafted, but I would pick the Versamax. (I own both btw)

Edit:
22" tactical model here, out of the box comes with extended mag tube, oversized safety, oversized bolt release, and fiber optic sights, all for less than $1,100.
A comparable Benelli, while a finer gun, costs a lot more after upgrading. An M4 would easily be over $2,000, while an M2 about $1,600.

If you want less expensive than even the Versamax, check out Stoeger. I like the versamax since the operating system is almost an exact copy of the Benelli M4.

Interesting, I saw 3.5" Versa Max and assumed waterfowl, after reading the response I figure tactical, so I went to remmy and looked to to see if they made a tactical VM that shoots, 3.5".. The description mentions it, but the specs for mag capacity at the bottom of page says 2.75-3" (I'm a waterfowler)

I can tell you, 3" gets it done! I do shoot 3.5" when I need bigger pellets for geese and need to make up for pellet count.

Love my versa max have put 2 cases of shells thru it so far and not a hiccup. Bought it 2 months ago .

I've got several thousand rounds through mine. Albeit mostly single shot at trap fields.

My only semi issues have been with a specific buck shot load.

I've cleaned it once since I got it and even that was too much.

Only annoyance is the magazine extension tube 'cap' has to be torqued down extra hard not loosen with use.

I have a 4 year old VersaMax that I use for bird hunting. Works great.

Mine had the issue of the loose fore end but they sent out a new nut that holds it slightly tighter. It still needs an adjustment every once in awhile.

I have a few thousand rounds of trap shooting through it with no issues.

I must inquire with Remington about this magic cap.

Mine is the tac model with an extension, is yours running the standard cap?

I don't know anything about tactical shotguns.

The nut holding my fore end on my VersaMax Sportsman was coming loose regularly. I found that it was a common problem (on various message boards) so I emailed Remington.

They sent out a new nut that is supposed to fix the issue. It works better than the old nut.

I own a Versamax and to me its an awesome shotgun. Supremely reliable and soft shooting. I have tried all the SA shotguns you can use for 3Gun and have stuck with the Versamax over the rest. I like the Benelli but the recoil impulse is pretty sharp to me and I cannot shoot it as fast as the VM.
I have shot several thousands of 12gA through it including a lot of slugs and buck.
