    Win 1897 takedowns

What causes them to be loose? Is it from shooting? Or repeated takedown and reinstall?

How about the model 12? Do they suffer from same problems?

There's a ring on the barrel with small screw. It allows you to change the tension on the barrel face.

They tend to come loose from shooting as well as being taking apart and put back together. Similar tension screw on Model 12's and 42's.

    Hope that helps.

If you have the original adjusting sleeve for the Md 12 that came on the gun it's unmarked, replacement adjusting sleeves are numbered 1,2,3,4,5,and 6. The 97 sleeves have letters, A,B,and C. Model 12 and 97 sleeves can be used on either gun.
Breaking them down and putting them back together is the main cause for both models getting loose.
